About Daniel Rechtschaffen

Daniel Rechtschaffen, Marriage and Family Therapist, is the author of The Way of Mindful Education, The Mindful Education Workbook, and Alphabreaths. He is the founding director of Transformative Educational Leadership, a year-long training for educational leaders to integrate mindfulness-based social and emotional learning into school systems worldwide, and organizes the annual Mindfulness in Education Conference and Teacher Training at the Omega Institute.     Loved this!! Sort of the 3 step with a skillful look at the body sensations! Thank you, for the vacuum cleaner breath idea. Makes me want to call this “suck it up” practice, but done very mindfully of course. Really neat. Thank you.

    I can use this with students today! Our theme is storage and preservation, and this practice is perfect for talking about beneficial “bacteria” (thoughts/feelings) crowding out the harmful “bacteria”! Always in relationship with each other, and all necessary and important to our personal ecologies.
