Hi i live in Australia, i am retired because of disability reasons, i have done mindfulness at our university for a 8 week course for back pain which was offered and i was fortunate to be on the program, at first i was not getting the meaning or i should say i was a bit of a disbeliever, but around the middle of the 8 weeks, something clicked and from there on i was surprised at after doing this 2 sessions a day, a 20 & 45 minute sessions every day, well when i started the course my pain level was 10+ at the end my pain level was down to around 2 to 3 score. i was amazed. But life gets in the way & i stopped doing it as often to stopping full stop. Now i want to reconnect so i can become more calm and have self compassion to regain a sense of purpose in myself. thanks everyone for the opportunity, i will commit wholeheartedly
I live outside Montreal, Canada. I am
A retired teacher and now that I have the time I would like to learn about Mindfulness as I have heard so many positive comments about it.
Hi I’m looking forward to joining the summit from Billericay, Essex UK. I’m a counsellor and since bringing mindfulness into my practice myself and my clients have benefitted more now than ever before. I practice daily and it’s helped me with many issues. I want to keep learning more and spreading the word. My hope is for everyone to be more mindful with compassion.
I’m the Founding Director of the Stress Management & Prevention Center, LLC, in Cathedral City, California. I had the distinct honor of taking the MBSR course back in the early 1980w from Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli at the UMASS School of Medicine, where I was Director of Immunohematology Research. They changed my life forever. As a result, I resigned from the medical school Since then I have dedicated myself to mindfulness meditation and living mindfully from moment to moment. Without mindfulness I would not have been able to cope with my bipolar disorder, the PTSD from the Vietnam conflict, and the sexual abuse I experienced from an uncle early in life. I am now a Certified Yoga Instructor, a Life Coach, a Trauma-Healing Yoga Instructor, and Meditation Teacher. Jaime Carlo-Casellas, Ph.D.
Very impressive. Truly brave to share, thanks Dr.
Hi Jaime, thank you for sharing your story. It is inspirational.
Learning how to bring self-awareness to my daily life helped me to replace my feeling of being abused, guilty and shamed into connection and presence. Mindfulness helped me to cultivate a new state of mind, to create a choice and become resilient.
I also decided to start a new professional journey and I am still working on that. I want to share my story to help people to feel free, happy and worthy. Now I know that it is possible to live a calm and better life by learning how to live in high levels of consciousness.
Thank you for sharing!
Leo
