Good morning, everyone! I am Cynthia, a psychologist from Salvador, Brazil. About two years ago I began studying Mindfulness. So I decided to go to Berkerley to learn how I could introduce this practice for kids. I attended the SIE (Summer Institute for Educators) in June, 2017, at GGSC-Greater Good Science Center. My experience there was amazing and now I am using Mindfulness to lead a SEL program (Social emotional learning) in the school that I work. We have very good results with the kids!
I’m looking foward to learn more!
Hi Cynthia, it is nice to hear about the impact of mindfulness! I would love to learn more about the good results with your kids. How does mindfulness impact on their lives?
Thank you.

Hello from Florida. I consider myself an Holistic Early Childhood Educator. I have an A.S. in the field and always studying from anything that pertains to the field to holistic health and spirituality with a very open mind. I take every perspective into consideration when teaching young children. So, everything else has been self taught. I do practice and teach some mindfulness with the little ones, but would like to gain more knowledge attending the summit.
Hi – I’m a 68-year-old grandmother in Ontario, Canada who is the primary caregiver of my 8-year-old granddaughter who is struggling to cope with attachment trauma. I was introduced to mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR) two years ago to help deal with family stresses and chronic back pain from congenital spinal malformation. I strongly believe that mindfulness can help in all aspects of our lives. I “live” mindfully, but know that a formal practice is necessary to fully experience all the benefits it offers. I’ve been pleased to see that the Child and Youth worker in our school actively works with mindfulness and my granddaughter’s 3rd grade teach is now incorporating it into her classroom’s curriculum. I want to strengthen my personal mindfulness and encourage my granddaughter to use it also. I am so pleased to see individuals from so many different countries. If everyone embraced mindfulness in their lives our entire world would be a much better place for all of us. Thank you for the opportunity to be involved in this summit.

Hi from Vancouver, British Columbia.
Hello. I am the Executive Director of Nonotuck Community School, in Northampton, MA (USA) where we are helping very young children appreciate mindfulness and teaching simple techniques to teachers and families too.
I am currently attending school to obtain a degree in psychology. The reason for this is because I had a terrible upbringing and I would like to show and teach our “at risk” children that they too can come out stronger and better even if they are going through a horrible situation. I am a survivor of incest and was physically and verbally abused by my mother. However, what happened to me, does not define me. There are many, many children suffering in silence, such as I did. I want to be the one who gives them hope and guides them in the right direction.
I would like on being mindful.
